“And if I had something to say to you I’d whisper it softly.
Kiss you on your rosey lips and never let you off me.
Shiver on your roof and see your face lit by starlight.
Hold you through the night and watch that Colorado sunrise.”—3OH!3
“That was a memorable day to me, for it made great changes in me. But, it is the same with any life. Imagine one selected day struck out of it, and think how different its course would have been. Pause you who read this, and think for a moment of the long chain of iron or gold, of thorns or flowers, that would never have bound you, but for the formation of the first link on one memorable day.”—Great Expectations
Day 03- The five songs you would have with you on a desert island and why
Ok this one was insanely hard for me. How in the world am I supposed to pick just five songs to have possibly for the rest of my life? So, to help me kinda have a chance at this I picked the five songs that triggered the best memories from my life.
1) Hedwig’s Theme.
I actually had no idea that this song was actually called that until I looked it up. It’s the main Harry Potter song from all of the movies. I picked this one for a few reasons. It pretty much just reminds me of my life from when I first read Harry Potter in fourth grade until a few hours ago when I saw the trailer for the last two movies. It’s just epic, basically.
2) Sugar We’re Going Down - Fall Out Boy
This is kinda the song that sparked my interest in music. Before this I was never really that into music. I would listen to stuff but I had no real preferences. Which is kinda sad considering I was a freshman in high school when I heard this. I feel like I should have liked something in middle school since The Spice Girls were long over but oh well. Anyways, this song was a catalyst in my life that opened up many doors and created many long lasting friendships.
3) You Found Me - The Fray
This song doesn’t have a memory attached to it so much as just how emotional it is. I absolutely love every single thing about it. To me it just speaks about the difficult times of life and how there isn’t always a light at the end of the tunnel. How sometimes something can just be so devastating that it takes everything in you to keep going. Even though it is a dark song, it gives me hope because everyone goes through difficult times and they eventually get through them if they have enough faith to do so.
4) Checkmarks - The Academy Is…
Well I obviously had to put my favorite band in my list. I’m not sure if this is my favorite song of theirs or not but it is definitely up there. It might have been the first one I ever heard. Anyways, this song reminds me of every concert I’ve been to. Something about it just makes me think of all the wonderful times I’ve had at shows over the years and consequentially makes me smile.
5) My Beautiful Rescue - This Providence
Simply put, this is the song that made me believe in love.
I find inspiration in a lot of things. I think right now London is inspiring me the most. I want to study there next spring but in order to do that I have to work and save up enough money this summer. It inspires me to stay focused on my classes and work as many hours as possible.
Daydreaming. Hands down. I daydream and make up little scenarios in my head all the time. And obviously they’re the most perfect scenarios that could ever happen to me, which means they most likely never will happen. I think they give me a false hope and optimism that eventually just lets me down. But oh, how they make me feel like anything is possible…
